John Copley (1875 - 1950) was a highly original painter, etcher and lithographer of landscape and figure subjects. Born in Manchester, he studied at Manchester School of Art, then in the studio of Watson Nicol and Arthur Cope, later at the Royal Academy Schools. His work is represented in several public collections including the British Museum, Victoria & Albert Museum and Glasgow Museum.
